Wooden Blocks by Sincerely Abi

A while back, I commissioned my friend Abi of Sincerely Abi to make me a set of blocks to use in Little Guy's nursery. I headed to the scrapbook store to find six papers to match what I had envisioned for the nursery which included lots of grays and whites with some colors like teal and red thrown in.About a week prior to Little Guy's arrival, a package arrived at our front door with not just one but three sets of custom made blocks!I couldn't get over how adorable they turned out,
and to have three full sets was an awesome surprise!
~
Because my pictures don't do justice, here's Abi's description of her blocks:
These pine blocks have been sanded by hand, and then prepared with an eco-friendly, non-toxic milk paint. The block edges are once again sanded for an antiqued finish. Patterned papers are applied to each side of the block (a different pattern for each side), and each block is sealed with a water-based, non-toxic finish. The blocks are packaged in a kraft take-out style box with kraft shreds(both the box and the shreds are recycled products.)
I bought a large glass jar at Target to display the blocks in......and now they sit on Zachary's dresser and I just LOVE what they add to his room.
(Look for a full nursery reveal coming soon!)
~
Now through November 28, use the code THANKS15 to receive 15% off your order in Abi's shop!

Spring Clothes : Milo Creative

It sure seems like it's trying so hard to turn to Spring around here, but we're just not quite there yet. Today it reached 50 degrees so we played outside and pretended we were warm! Even so, I've got my Spring wardrobe on my mind, and shopped around Etsy to see what I might like to add to it. I stumbled upon the shop Milo Creative Studios and instantly fell in love. (And not just because she's a Grand Rapids girl!)
~
Here's some what I found :this amazing sleeveless wrap cardiganand this split cowl sleeveless tunic, yes please!doesn't this dress just look so comfortable??
~
Pretty certain I'll take one of each,
be sure to check the shop out for yourself!

Island Girl Bags

Lucky me, I had quite a surprise this morning when I found out I won a new beach bag from Island Girl Bags! I had the pleasure of meeting MaryBeth at the Gussy meet up in December, and she's just as sweet as can be! This couldn't have been more perfect as Claire and I have big plans to live at the Lake Michigan beach in Grand Haven this summer.
~
Here were some of my top choices for fabrics :
but here's the one I picked!Isn't this print adorable???
~
Thanks so much to Island Girl Bags, I can't wait to see it in person!

Rebel Reclaimed

Okay, how in the world has this shop been around for months already and I had no idea it existed??? I stumbled upon Rebel Reclaimed on Fulton in GR (near the farmer's market) and was instantly smitten.
~
Just take a look...I didn't even know where to look, and then I was so busy chatting it up with the super-kind owner Dann, that I'm pretty sure I missed a ton (must.go.back.pronto)one of each, pleaseand these too!uh huh.I'm pretty certain I could have taken down an entire wall display and hung it on my new craft room wall and been very content. Once my room is in order, Rebel Reclaimed will be high on my list for decor!

Toilet Art ?

Since moving into our house three years ago, I've struggled with coming up with good items to put on the walls in Claire's bathroom. Her bathroom is our hallway bath, and the tile back splash in it is full of browns and blues, so decorating it in an overly "girly" way just wasn't going to cut it.
~
I think I've finally come up with the start of a plan. The first item being one of my favorite prints from Sarah Jane (who I listed as one of my Favorite Things last December!) I've looked at this print over and over and still don't know why it's taken me this long to purchase it, but I finally did and it's heading my way as we speak!Just after purchasing this print, I found this adorable fabric from This and That Japan on Etsy. The colors in the fabric coordinate so well with those in the Sarah Jane print, that I'm hoping to frame a bit of the fabric up on the wall as well.So that's my start. I'm thinking of adding a "C" somehow, maybe in a vinyl decal or some other way, we'll see!
~
I'll let you know how it turns out!

Live Simply

I've ordered a handful of prints from Studio Mela on Etsy, and I've just found another that I might have to add to my collection.
~
So sweet.

Sassy Red Shoes

There's a women's consignment shop named The Purple Rose within walking distance of our summer house. I'd intended to visit multiple times, but finally just got around to it. Lucky me, on the day I was there, all shoes and handbags were an additional 20% off!I picked up this pair of sassy red shoes for $13!I've already paired them with a black dress, and with blue jeans.
For just $13, seriously, how could I have resisted?!?

Brown Paper Packages...

...tied up with string
(and some great decorative tape too!)Back in February I shared with you some decorative tape that I had found (from the dollar bins at Michael's...score!) I've been putting the tape to good use. My favorite style for gifts right now is simple...brown boxes or brown paper with decorative tape and finished off with white string and a tag. Each Christmas I'm disappointed as the gift bows I worked so hard on inevitably get smashed en route to holiday parties. This year, I'll be all about decorative tape instead. Problem solved!

Kaye Rachelle Designs

My former college roommate Bonnie is an amazingly talented artist. You can see her personal website here.
~
Her most recent project has been to launch Kaye Rachelle Designs along with fellow Pratt grad, Susan Dreifuss. Both Bonnie & Susan have just completed their masters in printmaking, and are now sharing their talents with us!

You can check out the Kaye Rachelle website here.
And the Etsy shop here.

Sweet Little Collection

Back in January, I shared with you a few prints that I ordered from Studio Mela, one of my favorite Etsy shops!
~
I recently added a few prints to our collection:

Hopefully very soon I'll work up the nerve to start putting holes in our newly painted walls, and then I can share with you my plans for pulling all of these together!

My Grandma's Basement

Was full of treasures, here's some of what I found!
two Claire-sized suitcaseslots of costume jewelry that my mom and I are going to sort through
Little Golden Books
I totally remember reading The Poky Little Puppy!
vintage tablecloths
so my little helper can water flowers with me!
for a fellow blogger (can you guess who?!?)
Jackpot!
This was my mom's when she was a girl and it was in perfect condition!
I used it in the surprise playroom makeover I just did.
